Wildlife Control Plans

Mildura, Victoria Macquarie Bank, Timbercorp

Protected wildlife can become agricultural pests when they visit crops in large numbers. In the Sunraysia, threatened parrots can significantly damage horticultural crops.

Actions to protect crops are strictly controlled and must be negotiated with government agencies.

Ecological Associates was engaged to plan effective and non-destructive wildlife control measures at large-scale almond developments in the Sunraysia. The plan included measures to attract wildlife to alternative food sources and non-destructive measures to reduce visitation. The plan also involved staff training and rigorous record keeping and reporting requirements.

The plan was developed in consultation with agency staff to ensure it met the standards for best-practice in wildlife management.
