River Murray Wetland Management Plans

Renmark, South Australia River Murray Catchment Water Management Board and Local Action Planning Groups

Water has been re-introduced to many River Murray wetlands in South Australia to restore their original ecological character.

Water management plans describe how water levels are managed, how much water will be used and how much salt might be discharged back to the river.

To justify the ecological benefits against the water and salinity costs, water management plans are being developed for high priority wetlands. The plans draw on the Baseline Survey of wetland condition to set ecological and environmental targets.

To date Ecological Associates has developed plans for Templeton, Riverglades, Paiwalla, Whirlpool Corner, Edsons Flat, Murbpook Lagoon and Little Toolunka.
